Granulation consists in decorating a golden surface with tiny spherules of the same metal, obtaining chromatic effects and peculiar reflections. With this technique Etruscans realized their finest jewels. Nowadays thanks to the efforts of some goldsmiths and with their full respect to the exigencies of modern jeweller's art (gold 750/1000, 18 kt) it is possible to recreate the aesthetic effect which was typical of the granulation of the ancient masters.
